My major at Kent State University is Emerging Media and Technology and I have been able to use my public speaking and knowledge I learned in STAP throughout my major. I do projects, public speaking and interviews, and I give so much credit to the three role models that showed me how to be successful. Because of STAP I have many opportunities with student organizations with my major and club positions on campus.

It was through STAP that I feel I gained the confidence to explore lots of different career paths. When I was a part of the program, there were lots of different avenues that you could participate in, and it was encouraged that students try as much as they wanted. I’ve been able to apply that in my professional life and as a result have created a career I didn’t originally see as my goal, but have discovered that I loved along the way.

Mr. Shay and the STAP Program have significantly impacted my life and left an enduring impression on my educational path. Interviewing methods were introduced as early as 7th grade through STAP, which gave participants critical abilities that would be crucial in navigating opportunities in the future. STAP provided access to experiences not found in other programs or educational settings, providing a range of chances not found anywhere else. Being a part of the presentation with the Apple Company on March 2, 2023, remains a pivotal event in my high school experience, highlighting the program's ability to have a successful student-run program.  The STAP program gave me the tools to succeed in HS and beyond. It also significantly contributed to my future preparation as an elementary education major by instilling a strong sense of accountability, flexibility, and a love of learning that I now apply to my academic and professional pursuits.
